Choosing The Right Size
Mortice locks are sized by the depth of the lock case and the rectangular
hole - the 'Mortice' - into which the lock fits.
If replacing an existing mortice lock, it is possible
to find out what size is required without removing the old lock. Simply
measure from the edge of the door to the centre of the keyhole.
If the measurement is 45mm (1 3/4in) a 65/67mm (2 1/2in)
mortice lock is needed.
If the measurement is 57mm (2 1/4in) a 76/80mm (3in)
mortice lock is needed.
Door Security
Perimeter security means good door security first and foremost; if front
and back doors are not protected then neither is the home.
The Sterling range contains all the locks needed to
help customers beat burglars. All major lock types are covered including:
mortice locks, rim locks, nightlatches, doorbolts and cylinders. Almost
a third of burglars gain entrance through a window so remind customers
to protect patio doors and windows with good security bolts.*
Sterling also offers British Standard (BS) locks. Insurance
companies usually specify at least one BS lock, on the main exit door.
